Capabilities
Weymouth Machine Works is equipped for one-off, prototype, repair, and short-run industrial machining. CNC and manual processes are used together where appropriate, allowing work to be planned around the requirements of the part rather than the limitations of a single machine or process.
CNC Machining
CNC turning and milling are used for repeatable dimensional work, complex features, and short production runs. CNC processes can be combined with manual operations when a part requires specialized setups, secondary operations, or additional flexibility.
Manual Machining
Manual turning, milling, drilling, boring, fitting, and related operations remain an important part of the shop's capability. Manual equipment is particularly useful for repair work, one-off components, unusual setups, and parts where flexibility matters more than production speed.
Hard Turning
Hard turning is available for suitable hardened components where geometry, material condition, and finish requirements make the process appropriate. Jobs are reviewed individually to determine whether hard turning is a good fit for the required tolerance, surface finish, and part geometry.
Heat Treatment Coordination
Heat treatment can be coordinated through an established outside partner as part of a machining project. Where appropriate, material condition, hardness requirements, machining allowance, and finishing operations can be planned together so the part moves through the process with fewer handoffs and less risk.
Materials
Common engineering materials include carbon and alloy steels, stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, and other non-ferrous alloys. Material selection and machinability are considered as part of each job.
Precision & Inspection
Close-tolerance work is evaluated on a feature-by-feature basis. Bearing fits, bores, shafts, mating components, and other precision features are inspected using appropriate dimensional measuring equipment throughout the machining process.
Tolerance capability depends on part size, geometry, material, setup, and process. Requirements are reviewed before work is accepted.
